While finding my three road legal race cars for !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I came across a slightly different segment. Race cars converted to be used on the road. These cars are no longer legal for the racing series they were originally meant for, but they were all originally born in race shops. So, take your pick, which if these three would you choose to cruise around town in?

2000 Dallara Indy Car
There are a handful of street legal two seater Indy cars out there, but they were built from the start to give rides to fans, not win races. This one on the other hand was built to race and in 2000 was piloted by Eddie Cheever. At some point a little later in it's life it ended up in the possession of a Florida man who decided to slap some lights and road tires on it, swap in a small block Chevy so it could run on pump gas, and register it for the road. Even in it's toned-down, street car form it'll do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. Sadly after not meeting reserve on ebay it seems to have disappeared. I'd like to think this means it's sitting in a garage somewhere patiently waiting for someone as crazy as the man who converted it to come along and put it back on the road.
Street legal Cup car
Unlike the Dallara this isn't a one-off but an actual business. A company called Jeffrey's Custom Conversions actually takes Cup chassis and turns them into road-going stock cars. A few creature comforts have been added in the process, including reclining seats, height-adjustable suspension so you can clear speed bumps, and doors so you don't have to squeeze your bacon-cheeseburger-ass through the window. Like the Dallara the car is now powered by a small block, this one making 355 hp. It also comes with its own VIN, making registration easier. You can order your car as a clone of your favorite Cup driver's ride or create a custom design of your own. Paint comes with a lifetime warranty.
Count Rossi's Porsche 917
Count Rossi, of the world famous Martini brand, loved the Porsche 917, so much so in fact that after just one race with it he decided to take chassis 30 back to the factory and have them add basic road equipment so he could drive it on the street. When none of the European governing bodies would certify it for road use he simply registered it with the state of Alabama (plate number 61-27737). Still very much a race car Rossi's 917 has the flat-12 engine and can find 60 mph in under 3 seconds and top out around 240 mph. The multi-millionaire he is, Rossi had the cabin of his 917 lined with fine leather and the entire car painted silver. The car can still be seen occasionally at Goodwood.

DD: Dallara because it's that ultimate in top down driving and Houston doesn't really have a winter anyways....also I may be slightly unhinged
Track: 917 because...well because it's a 917, duh
Burn: Cup car....in the middle of a trailer park, with the indy car standing by for a quick get away.

Yes, let me know how that goes for you when you're sitting at a stop light with your helmet on sweating, waiting for the light to turn green so you can taste the sweet relief of wind over your flame suit. Then, the light finally turns! You ease out the clutch, add some gas, and STALL. Girls in Toyota Corolla laugh at you as they roll away and leave you frantically turning on the emergency fire system, the starter, etc. to restart the car only to stall it again.

They aren't sticker headlights, real lights are installed as part of the conversion, along with windshield wipers and (optional) air conditioning.

Actually I take back the rain bit. While they supposedly do/can come with wipers I've found no talk of side windows. Then again the cars are made to order, so you can probably request them.

That is a big technically, since it's wipers wouldn't do squat if even actually bladed.

I'm a pretty big Nascar fan, but even I have to burn the Cup car. It wouldn't be as fun around a road course as the Indycar and the 917 has doors and a leather interior.

Cup car also has doors, as mentioned in the description. No leather though.
